This information collection is approved through 9-92 under the following conditions: FNS will respond to the Paperwork Reduction Taskforce Recommendation on reporting requirements in the WIC Program. Specifically, FNS should consider changing form 498 to a quarterly report; eliminating form 654, and instead reporting participation by priority and category on form 498; and automating form 191. FNS will either adopt these changes, or justify failure to do so upon their next submission.

Abstract:
THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES NUTRITION BENEFITS TO LOW-INCOME WOMEN, INFANTS, AND CHILDREN. IT IS ADMINISTERED BY STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS. BENEFITS ARE OBTAINED THROUGH RETAIL VENDOR, HOME DELIVERY, AND DIRECT DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS. THIS SUBMISSION IS BEING MADE TO EXTEND THE GENERAL PROGRAM INFORMATIO COLLECTION BURDEN OF THE WIC PROGRAM FOR AN ADDITIONAL THREE YEARS.
