Abstract:
FRA is proposing to require railroads to submit information to the U.S. DOT National Highway-Rail Crossing Inventory about highway-rail crossings and pathway crossings over which they operate. All 50 States and some 607 railroads use the Inventory Form to provide new crossing information or to update data in the Inventory. Without updating, the Inventory's value would rapidly decline

The total burden has increased by 1,259 hours from the last approved submission . The change in burden is due solely to program changes resulting from the proposed rule's new requirements. **** Please see the table in the answer to question number 12 of the Supporting Justification for a complete itemization of program changes. The current OMB inventory shows a total burden of 8,054 hours, while the present submission exhibits a total burden of 9,313 hours. Hence, there is a total increase of 1,259 hours. As noted in the answer to question number 13, the cost to respondents has increased by $1,521,136, and results from a program change associated with this proposed rule.
