Short Statement:
The program adjustment decrease of 72,710,000 annual burden hours [184,380,000 previously approved annual burden hours - 111,670,000 proposed annual burden hours = 72,710,000] is due to the agency's use of updated estimates of the number of commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers subject to the hours of service (HOS) regulations and who incur paperwork burden because of them. In addition, the estimated annual number of responses decreased 3,310,360,000 [3,979,000,000 previously approved - 668,640,000 proposed = 3,310,360,000].
