Abstract:
TO OBTAIN A BENEFIT UNDER SECTION 2 OF THE RAILROAD RETIREMENT ACT, AS THE SPOUSE OF A EMPLOYEE ANNUITANT OR PENSIONER OR AS THE WIDOW OR WIDOWER OF A DECEASED EMPLOYEE, ANNUITANT OR PENSIONER, THE APPLICANT MUST SUBMIT PROOF OF MARRIAGE TO SUCH INDIVIDUAL. THE STATEMENTS WILL OBTAIN INFORMATION SUPPORTING CLAIMED COMMON-LAW MARRIAGE. THE INFORMATION WILL BE USED TO DETERMINE IF THE APPLICANT MEETS THE MARRIAGE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SPOUSE OR WIDOW(ER) BENEFITS
