Abstract:
THE INFORMATION IN THE CONTINUING CONSUMER EXPENDITURE SURVEY IS NEEDED TO ESTIMATE THE LEVEL AND DISTRIBUTION OF CONSUMER EXPENDITURES. THE INFORMATION WILL BE USED IN ECONOMIC ANALYSIS AND TO UPDATE THE WEIGHTS IN THE CONSUMER PRICE INDEX. APPROPRIATION TO FUND THIS PROGRAM WAS SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED AND AUTHORIZED BY THE CONGRESS IN FISCAL YEARS 1978 AND 1979. THE ESTIMATED INCREASE IN BURDEN IS A REFLECTION OF BETTER ESTIMATES AND TH
