Abstract:
NONEXEMPT CHARITABLE OR SPLIT-INTEREST TRUSTS DESCRIBED IN IRC SECTION 4947(A) ARE REQUIRED BY SECTION 6011 TO FILE AN INFORMATION RETURN STATING THE INCOME, EXPENSES AND ACTIVITIES OF THE TRUST FOR THE YEAR. UNDER SECTION 4947(A)(1), TRUSTS ALSO MUST PAY AN EXCISE TAX ON THEIR NET INVESTMENT INCOME AS DEFINED IN SECTION 4940(B).
