THIS NATIONAL SAMPLE SURVEY OF THE CIVILIAN, NONINSTITUTIONALIZED POPULATION OF THE U.S. IS THE PRINCIPAL SOURCE ON THE HEALTH OF THE POPULATION, PROVIDING STATISTICAL INFORMATION FOR HEALTH RESEARCHERS, PLANNERS AND POLICY MAKERS ON THE AMOUNT, DISTRIBUTION AND EFFECTS OF ILLNESS AND DISABILITY AND THE SERVICES RENDERED FOR OR BECAUSE OF SUCH CONDITIONS. The following is a summary of the topics, regarding the proposed collection of information, that the certification covers:
