Abstract:
FORM 4768 IS USED BY PERSONAL REPRESENTATIVES OF ESTATES TO REQUEST AN EXTENSION OF TIME TO FILE AN ESTATE TAX RETURN AND/OR TO PAY THE ESTAT TAX, AND TO EXPLAIN WHY THE EXTENSION SHOULD BE GRANTED. IRS USES THE INFORMATION TO DECIDE WHETHER THE EXTENSION SHOULD BE GRANTED. HELP VERIFY THAT THE ESTATE QUALIFIES FOR AN EXTENSION OF TIME TO FILE AND/OR TO PAY THE ESTATE TAX.
