Abstract:
WHEN WINE IS WITHDRAWN FROM A WINERY, THE FED. EXCISE TAX BECOMES DUE AND IS PAID ON THE APPROPRIATE TAX RETURN. THE WINE IS THEN CONSIDERED "TAXPAID." IF, HOWEVER, SOMEONE WISHES TO EXPORT THE WINE FROM THE U.S., THE WINE TAX CAN BE RECLAIMED THROUGH A PROCESS TERMED "DRAWBACK." THE FORM FACILITATES "DRAWBACK" CLAIMS AND REQUIRES EVIDENCE OF EXPORT & THEREBY PROTECTION OF FED. TAXES.
