Abstract:
DOL ISSUES AN ANNUAL LIST OF LABOR SURPLUS AREAS (LSA'S) SO THAT FEDER AGENCIES CAN DIRECT PROCUREMENT CONTRACTS TO EMPLOYERS IN HIGH UNEMPLOYMENT AREAS. THE ANNUAL LSA LIST IS UPDATED DURING THE YEAR BASED UPON PETITITONS SUBMITTED TO DOL BY STATE EMPLOYMENT SECURITY AGENCIES REQUESTING ADDITIONAL AREAS FOR LSA CLASSIFICATION.
