THE RECORDKEEPING AND REPORTING REQUIREMENTS IMPOSED BY THE BANK SECRECY ACT ON FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS ARE PART OF A LARGER EFFORT DIRECTED AT ORGANIZED AND WHITE COLLAR CRIMINAL AND TAX EVADERS WHO US FOREIGN OR DOMESTIC BANK ACCOUNTS TO (1) FACILITATE THEIR TRANSACTIONS OR (2) CONCEAL DRUG AND OTHER VIOLATIONS.
