THIS REQUEST IS APPROVED THROUGH 12/31/84. CG HAS STATED THAT THESE REQUIREMENTS DO NOT IMPACT SMALL ENTITIES WITH NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THAT DETERMINATION IS TRUE. IT APPEARS TO BE UNREASONABLE TO ASSUME THAT ONLY LARGE ENTITIES NEED TO MAKE REPAIRS TO BOILERS AND PRESSURE EQUIPMENT, STORE CARGO GEAR, HOLD SHIPPING PAPERS, AND HAVE TANKS THAT NEED TO BE EXAMINED. THE NEW SUBMISSION SHOULD EXPLAIN THE PROPOSAL THAT THERE ARE NO SMALL ENTITIES AFFECTED AND PROVIDE AN DEFINITION OF A SMALL ENTITY.

Abstract:
THIS INFORMATION IS NEEDED TO ENABLE THE COAST GUARD TO FULLFILL ITS RESPONSIBILITIES FOR MARITIME SAFETY UNDER TITLE 46, U.S. CODE. IT IS USED SOLELY FOR THIS PURPOSE. THE AFFECTED PUBLIC INCLUDES SOME OWNERS/OPERATORS OF LARGE MERCHANT VESSELS AND ALL FOREIGN-FLAG TANKER CALLING ON U.S. PORTS.
