Abstract:
FORM 8288 IS USED BY THE WITHHOLDING AGENT TO REPORT AND TRANSMIT PROVIDES THAT ANY PERSON WHO ACQUIRES A U.S. REAL PROPERTY INTEREST FROM A FOREIGN PERSON MUST WITHHOLD A TAX OF 10 PERCENT OF THE AMOUNT REALIZED BY THE SELLER, OR A LESSER AMOUNT ESTABLISHED BY AGREEMENT WITH THE IRS.

On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that the collection of information encompassed by this request complies with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR 1320.8(b)(3).
