THESE REGULATIONS PROVIDE DEFINITIONS, REPORTING REQUIREMENTS, AND GENERAL RULES RELATING TO THE TAX TREATMENT OF DEBT INSTRUMENTS HAVING ORIGINAL ISSUE DISCOUNT AND THE IMPUTATION OF AND ACCOUNTING FOR INTEREST WITH RESPECT TO SALES OR EXCHANGES OF PROPERTY AFTER DECEMBER 31, 1984.
