Terms of Clearance: Approved subject to the submission no later than July 31, 1986 of the following information: 1) item one of the justification will revised to explain each circumstance under which the information collection is used, 2) item 13 of the justification will be revised to show the response burden associated with each use described in item one, 3) an example will be submitted of a cover letter which is used by import specialists when mailing Form 247 to importers, 4) a summary will be submitted of the auditor's explanation of the purpose of Form 247 when the form is provided in personal interviews with importers, and 5) an Inventory Correction Worksheet will be submitted with a new title whic descriptive of the purpose of Form 247, and 6) a revised copy of Form 247 will be submitted for the OMB docket file. In addition, the Paperwork Act statement will be moved to the first page of Form 247 an item 24 of SF 83 will be changed to "voluntary."

Abstract: THE DOCUMENT IS USED BY IMPORTERS TO FURNISH COST INFORMATION TO CUSTOMS WHICH IS USED IN THE VALUATION OF IMPORTED MERCHANDISE. IT IS A GUIDE FOR THE IMPORTER TO FOLLOW IN COMPILING THE COST ELEMENTS SUPPORTING THE ENTERED VALUES REPORTED TO CUSTOMS.
