We have approved this collection of information for three years, with the understanding that, when the agency publishes its final rule on respiratory protection, the recordkeeping requirement associated with monthly inspections of emergency-use respirators will be converted to a certification. When this revision becomes effective, the agency shall submit an Inventory Correction Worksheet to revise this package. We have assigned a burden estimate of 155,336 hours, rather than the 102,189 hours requested by the agency, to this collection of information, because the agency has failed to show, pursuant to 5 CFR 1320.7(b)(2), that the State-plan States would have imposed the same burden in the absence of a Federal requirement.

Abstract:
THE PURPOSE OF THIS STANDARD AND ITS INFORMATION COLLECTION REQUIREMENTS IS TO PROVIDE PROTECTION FOR EMPLOYEES AGAINST THE HEALTH EFFECTS ASSOCIATED WITH OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE TO COKE OVEN EMISSIONS. EMPLOYERS MUST MONITOR EMPLOYEE EXPOSURE, KEEP EMPLOYEE EXPOSURES WITHIN PERMISSIBLE LIMITS AND PROVIDE EMPLOYEES WITH MEDICAL EXAMS
