Terms of Clearance:
Pursuant to 5 CFR 1320 and the Paperwork Reduction Act, OMB approves this collection for one year. This approval is less than the usual three year approval because OMB has questions about the practical utility of the weekly reporting requirement. Due to the normal variation in production runs, crude supply, etc. the weekly figures are highly volitile and thus may not be useful for policy making. The fact that the Weekly Petroleum Status Report has a limited circulation reinforces our concern. ' Before resubmitting this ICR to OMB, EIA should review the existing requirements to determine whether a different reporting frequency is appropriate (e.g., bi-weekly or monthly). As part of this review, EIA should demonstrate how the Weekly Petroleum Status Report has actually been used in the past.

THE PETROLEUM SUPPLY REPORTING SYSTEM COLLECTS INFORMATION NEEDED FOR DETERMINING THE SUPPLY AND DISPOSITION OF CRUDE PETROLEUM, PETROLEUM PRODUCTS, AND NATURAL GAS LIQUIDS.
