In accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act and 5 CFR 1320, this information collection request is approved through 9/31/91. Should the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE) resumbit this information collection for OMB review, OSMRE must must address the following issues: (1) Describe what steps, if any, OSMRE has taken to implement recommendations embodied in OSMRE's Final Report of the Information Collection Task Force, dated November 1989. (2) Specifically, what steps has OSMRE taken to address the recommendations of the Information Collection Task Force with regard to the information collection requirements described in 30 CFR 779.12, 779.19, 779.22, 779.24?

APPLICANTS FOR SURFACE COAL MINING PERMITS A REQUIRED TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE DESCRIPTIONS OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURC THAT MAY BE IMPACTED OR AFFECTED BY PROPOSED SURFACE MINING ACTIVITIES THE INFORMATION WILL BE USED BY THE REGULATORY AUTHORITY TO DETERMINE THE APPLICANT CAN COMPLY WITH ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION PERFORMANCE STANDARDS.
