REGULATIONS, TRANSPORTATION SAFETY, HAZARDOUS MATERIALS, APPROVAL'. THE DEPARTMENT, CARRIERS, SHIPPERS, AND MANUFACTURERS USE THESE APPROVALS TO ASSURE TRANSPORTATION SAFETY OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS WHICH POSE SPECIAL HAZARDS OR FOR WHICH ONLY GENERAL, RATHER THAN SPECIFIC SHIPPING OR PACKAGING REQUIREMENTS, ARE SET FORTH IN THE REGULATIONS.
