Abstract:
THE COAST GUARD USES THE RESULTS OF NON-RESTRICTIVE TESTING (NDT) TO EVALUATE THE SUITABILITY OF OLDER PRESSURE VESSEL TYPE CARGO TANKS TO REMAIN IN SERVICE. FOUR BARGE OWNERS PER YEAR WOULD BE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT NDT PROPOSALS AND RESULTS. ONCE EVERY 10 YEARS A PRESSURE VESS TYPE CARGO TANK ON A BARGE 30 YEARS OR OLDER WOULD BE REQUIRED TO BE SUBJECTED TO NDT (THERE ARE 34 BARGES IN THIS AGE CATEGORY).
