Abstract:
FISHERMEN WANTING TO FISH IN REGULATED FISHERIES IN THE ALASKA REGION MUST APPLY FOR VESSEL PERMITS. PERMIT APPLICATIONS CONTAIN INFORMATION ON PARTICIPANT AND VESSEL IDENTIFICATION, VESSEL PURPOSE, GEAR TYPE, VESS DESCRIPTION, AND INTENDED AREA OF OPERATION. THIS INFORMATION IS USED BY MANAGEMENT AGENCIES AS AN ENFORCEMENT TOOL AND FOR ANALYSIS OF EXISTING AND PROPOSED MANAGEMENT MEASURES.
