Abstract:
THE BANK SECRECY ACT, P.L. 90-508 (CODIFIED AT 12 U.S.C. 18296, 12 U.S.C. 1951 ET SEQ., AND 31 U.S.C. 5311-5326), AUTHORIZES THE SECRETAR OF THE TREASURY TO REQUIRE FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS AND INDIVIDUALS TO KEEP RECORDS AND FILE REPORTS THAT THE SECRETARY DETERMINES HAVE A HIG DEGREE OF USEFULNESS IN CRIMINAL, TAX, OR REGULATORY MATTERS.
