Approved with the changes made to item #8 of the justification receive November 8th. BLS will use ICW's submitted a minimum of two weeks pri to the planned start date of each project. In order to conserve space in the docket record for individual projects under this number, we hav not repreated the general conditions of the review dated 1/29/91, whic remain in effect. OMB will discuss with BLS the need to segregate review requests for focus groups, consumer satisfaction surveys, and pretests in separate generic or stand alone clearances in light of recent developments in the provision of generic clearances. 11/9/93-The revised request submitted on 11/09/93 is approved as submitted. Remarks added, eff. 10/17/94: The Confidentiality and Privacy Study is approved with the addition received on 10/17/94.

Abstract:
THE PROPOSED LABORATORY RESEARCH WILL BE CONDUCTED FROM FY 1994 THROUGH FY 1996 TO ENHANCE DATA QUALITY IN THE BUREAU OF LABOR STATISTICS' SURVEYS. IMPROVEMENTS WILL BE MADE BY EXAMINING PSYCHOLOGICAL AND COGNITIVE ASPECTS OF BLS'S DATA COLLECTION PROCEDURES, INCLUDING QUESTIONNAIRE DESIGN, INTERVIEWING PROCEDURES, AND ADMINISTRATION TECHNOLOGY.
