Your response to the terms of clearance dated May 27, 1993 is accepted with the understanding: 1) the survey to determine taxpayer interest i electronic filing will be mailed during the fall of 1994 to taxpayers electing the installment method of payment, 2) IRS will consider the feasibility of implementing electronic filing for the tax period beginning July 1, 1995 taking into account the extent of taxpayer interest, and 3) IRS will report to OMB during February 1995 concernin its consideration of electronic filing for this collection. You may omit printing the expiration date on this form. Also, you may continue to use prior versions of this form.

FORM 2290 IS USED TO COMPUTE AND REPORT THE TAX IMPOSED BY SECTION 448 ON THE HIGHWAY USE OF CERTAIN MOTOR VEHICLES. THE INFORMATION IS USED TO DETERMINE WHETHER THE TAXPAYER HAS PAID THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF TAX.
