Abstract:
This is a generic information collection reflecting regulatory requirements governing scientific research, exempted fishing, and exempted educational fishing activities under the Magnuson Act. Prospective researchers may submit a scientific research plan to NMFS, which will then issue a letter of acknowledgement and establish a presumption that their activity is research and exempt from regulations. Standard requirements for persons applying for exempted fishing permits and exempted educational activities are also established by these regulations.
