Abstract:
FISHERMEN WANTING TO FISH IN REGULATED FISHERIES IN ALASKA REGION MUST APPLY FOR VESSEL PERMITS. PERMIT APPLICATIONS CONTAIN INFORMATION ON PARTICIPANT AND VESSEL INDENTIFICATION, VESSEL PURPOSES, GEAR TYPE, VESSEL DESCRIPTION, AND INTENDED AREA OF OPERATION. THIS INFORMATION USED BY MANAGEMENT AGENCIES AS AN ENFORCEMENT TOOL AND FOR ANALYSIS OF EXISTING AND PROPOSED MANAGEMENT MEASURES.
