Terms of Clearance:
Approved consistent with changes described in DOL memo of 12-16- 99. As described in that memo, BLS will submit individual cog- lab requests to OMB with an ICW. OMB will have ten days to comment on the request. Also, BLS request to compensate participants is limited to $25. Requests to compensate at a higher level will be evaluated on a case by case basis. Lastly, BLS shall submit an ICW reducing the burden hours associated with this collection to 5000 at the end of FY 2000.

Abstract:
The proposed laboratory research will be conducted from fiscal year (FY) 2000 through FY 2002 to enhance data quality in the Bureau of Labor Statistics' surveys. Improvements will be made by examining psychological and cognitive aspects of BLS's data collection procedures, including questionnaire design, interviewing procedures, and administration technology.
