The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and OMB received two public comments from organizations representing a significant number of employers on this approval request. Both comments raise the issue of how use of the Internet by employers to fill jobs affects employer recordkeeping obligations. With the advent of the Internet, the environment in which employers seek new employees has changed. Accordingly the questions and answers accompanying the Uniform Guidelines may need to be updated to account for these changes. Approval is through December 2001 during which time, EEOC in cooperation with DOL, DOJ, OPM, and OMB will evaluate the need for changes to the questions and answers accompanying the Uniform Guidelines necessitated by the growth of the Internet as a job search mechanism. When resubmitting the Guidelines to OMB for approval, EEOC shall include any such changes to the questions and answers as appropriate.
