Abstract:
Section 251 of the Tax Reform Act of 1986 requires that the Secretary of the Interior certify to the Secretary of the Treasury upon application by owners of historic properties for Federal tax benefits, (a) that the properties are historic structures; and (b) that the rehabilitation work on such properties is consistent with the historic character of the historic buildings.
