Terms of Clearance: This ICR is approved pursuant to 5 CFR 1320. EPA is commended for its efforts to address issues raised in previous terms of clearance. As stated in section 2(b) of the Supporting Statement, the information collected by this ICR are "published for the purpose of sharing information about WasteWise partners' programs and to encourage other organizations to explore and implement waste reduction activities." Because "results can fluctuate dramatically for individual companies for a number of reasons not related to the WasteWise program...the results reported by the partners cannot be used reliably to evaluate trends or the overall progress of the program." The agency must resubmit this ICR for OMB approval if it wants to make any changes to the information to be collected or the intended uses of that information (5 CFR 1320(g)). When EPA submits this ICR for renewal, it must evaluate, after consulting with respondents, the burden estimates for reporting requirements. In its resubmission, the Agency should list the names, phone numbers, and affiliations of the respondents it contacted.

Abstract: EPA needs to collect this information to evaluate the success of the voluntary WasteWise program and the progress of members participating in the program. The information is used to recognize members' achievements and identify successful waste reduction strategies to share with others. Members are pre- dominantly businesses, as well as some non-profits, trade associations, institutions, and federal, state, local, and tribal governments.
