Terms of Clearance:
Only I-485 has been approved in this package. Supplement A of this package is not approved at this time. We have raised concerns about the utility of Supplement A as it does not coherently solicit information necessary to determine whether an individual should file under section 245 and 249 of the INA. Attached memos delineate the concerns and issues raised regarding Supplement A. INS will make revisions to Supplement A to address issues and concerns raised in the attached memos. INS will resubmit a full package that includes both the I-485 and a revised Supplement A within 30 days of this action. INS may continue to use the previous Supplement A until the revised Supplement A has been approved. This collection previously expired on June 2001. INS shall ensure that such future violations of the Paperwork Reduction Act do not occur. Because the collection did expire, burden hours and cost burden of current OMB inventory reverted to zero. These amounts were not reflected on the 83-I. Changes have been made accord- ingly.

Abstract:
This information will be used to request and determine eligibility for adjustment of permanent residence status. This application allows an applicant to determine whether he or she must file under section 245 and 249 of the INA, and it allows the Service to collect information needed for reports to be made to different government committees.
