Terms of Clearance:
In accordance with 5 CFR 1320, the information collection is approved for three years. However, the burden for this package will not be entered until the year the census is administered. Until that time, a placeholder of one burden hour and one respondent will keep this docket active. By 11/30/2002, NASS should submit a change worksheet to OMB with the full burden along with final drafts of the information collection materials, including all final forms, letters, and instructions. A summary of any substantive changes made to the collection should also accompany the change worksheet.

Abstract:
The census of agriculture conducted every 5 years is the only source of consistent, comparable agricultural data at the county, state, and national levels. It collects important information on the number and size of farms, land use, production expenses, value of production, land values, and crop and livestock pro- duction, as well as key demographic data on farm operators not available from any other source. These data are critical to the agricultural community, including local, state and federal governments, farmer organizations, marketing associations, co- operatives, agricultural experiment stations, land-grant colleges
