Abstract:
Controlled carriers are required to file certain information with the FMC by Section 9 of the shipping Act of 1984 (46 USC app. 1708), as amended. This information allows the FMC to monitor the acivities of controlled carriers to ensure that they not engage in acts prohibited by Section 9 i.e., charge or assess unjust and unreasonable rates, etc.
