Owners of boats, and inboard engines, outboard motors and sterndrive units who think their products are defective or fail to comply with Coast Guard safety standards can file a complaint by means of a form or electronically at the Office of Boating Safety website.

Short Statement:
A National Boating Saety Advisory Council subcommittee recommended that the Coast Guard find improved ways to analyze data and identify the existence of safety defects. To make boaters more aware of the safety defect correction program, the Coast Guard publicized its Infoline as a fast and convenient way to communicate potential safety defect information. Advertisement about the Infoline appear regularly in most recreational boating publications. Information concerning consumer complaints and how to file them appears on the Office of Boating Safety website.
