Abstract:
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) collects information from respondents for free use permits for vegetative or mineral materials to: (1) determine whether the vegetative or mineral materials qualify for free use; (2) determine if disposal is consistent with local land use plans and authorities; (3) ensure that the appropriate BLM office issues the permit; and (4) monitor and assess the use or authorized removals of vegetative and mineral materials to ensure sustainable resource management.

The increase in responses is an adjustment based on an analysis of processed free use permits received by the BLM. We have increased the estimated completion time per response from 30 minutes to 2 hours, based on feedback from respondents. This resulted in a net increase in the total estimated burden hours, as an adjustment.
