Abstract:
The standard requires employers to monitor employee exposure to EtO, to provide medical surveillance, to train employees about the hazards of EtO, and to establish and maintain accurate records of employee exposure to EtO. These records will be used by employers, employees, physicians, and the Government to ensure that employees are not harmed by exposure to EtO.

Based upon new data, OSHA lowered the number of hospitals covered by the Standard, and subsequently the number of employees who need exposure monitoring and medical surveillance. This resulted in an adjustment decrease of 1,240 hours(from 43,972 hours to 42,732 hours) and an adjustment cost decrease of $213,219(from $6,583,000 to $6,369,781).
