Abstract:
The need for the collection of information is generated by individuals who apply for disaster assistance benefits under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, as amended. It is the policy of FEMA to provide an orderly and continuing means of assistance by the Federal Government to State and local governments in carrying out their responsibilities to alleviate the suffering and damage that result from major disasters and emergencies.

Short Statement:
The Disaster Assistance Registrtion process has been optimized to flow in a logical and efficient manner for applicants and staff gaining efficiencies in the registration process. Sttreamlining and optimization of the proces has resulted in a decrease in the averge time for processing disaster assistant applications while the number of responses has increased. The Internet Application Registration is an example of optimizing the disaster registration process. Applicants may apply for assistance online and check the status of their applications. The Receipt for Government Property is new information that is captured as a program change for this data collection. In order to receive direct assistance for housing from FEMA the applicant must acknowledge and accept the conditions for using government property authorized under 44 CFR 206.117.
