The information collection associated with the notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) on “Requirements for Intermodal Equipment Providers and Motor Carriers and Drivers Operating Intermodal Equipment" is not approved at this time. FMCSA shall examine public comment in response to the NPRM and will describe in the preamble of the final rule how the agency has maximized the practical utility of the collection and minimized the burden. In the future, the agency shall submit ICRs related to NPRMs to OMB for review on or before the publication of the NPRM in the Federal Register, not three months after publication. Furthermore, no other changes to the existing collection is approved at this time. To obtain an extension for the existing collection, FMCSA must submit a request for an extension after going through the normal PRA public comment process (i.e., a 60-day and 30-day notice).
