Terms of Clearance: OMB appreciates that BJS will report back on the magnitude and nature of change identified from 2001 and 2005 to the present, given BJS's belief that the current periodicity is required and also that a census is now required rather than a survey. Related, OMB looks forward to BJS's future submissions for this and other collections to much more specifically justify the specific anticipated uses, not merely provide a list of users.

Short Statement: The 2007 National Census of State Court Prosecutors' is a complete enumeration of all 2400 State Court Prosecutor offices. The previous submission was not a complete enumeration of all State Court Prosecutor offices but only a portion. This is the reason for the increase in burden. The revised survey reduces the total number of questions and adds new questions on Identity theft. There is also an increase in the cost burden. The previously approved cost was $306,627, but this cost was not reflected in ROCIS during the migration. The new requested cost is $403,329 so the difference is $96,702.
