Short Statement:
This information collection has decreased as last reported in 2003. A number of World War II merchant marine veterans are now deceased. However, there are many family members who contact the Maritime Administration while doing genealogy research on their relatives. With various websites available, the public has been able to retrieve information directly without contacting MARAD.
