Terms of Clearance:
Approved as revised by HHS and consistent with the following terms of clearance: 1. Items approved under this generic clearance will be used for qualitative research only and are not intended to generate quantitative or statistically generalizable data. 2. HHS shall submit memos for individual studies including statement of need, intended use of information, description of respondents, information collection procedures, incentive justification, justification for proposed collection methodology, estimated burden for the requested collection and total number of hours previously approved under the generic during this period of clearance, participant screener and survey instrument. 3. HHS shall compile an annual report on this generic clearance tracking the number and purpose of collections approved, the number of burden hours used in total and per package, and the mechanisms for each collection e.g. web panel, focus group, etc. 4. OMB will respond with clearance or questions within 15 working days. 5. Approval must be obtained from OMB prior to the fielding of any items under this generic clearance.

Abstract:
This information will be used as formative research to develop messages and materials in support of the development of disease prevention and health promotion information, including the 2005 Dietary Guidelines. It is necessary to obtain consumer input to better understand the information needs, attitudes and beliefs of the audience in order to tailor messages, as well as to assist with clarity, understandability and acceptance of prototyped messages and materials.
