Abstract:
Form 1045 is used by individuals, estates, and trusts to apply for a quick refund of taxes due to carryback of a new operating loss, unused general business credit, or claim of right adjustment under section 1341(b). The information obtained is used to determine the validity of the application.

Short Statement:
The form and instructions have been revised. Changes made to the form resulted in an increase of 14 lines and 827 words. There was a decrease of 4 Code references and 23 other records. These changes were a result of the following actions: 1) Added new lines 19, 20, and 21 to account for the deduction for qualified mortgage insurance premiums that was added to Schedule A (Form 1040) in 2007 (PL 109-423, sec. 419). 2) New lines 25, 33, and 34: Added Schedule A (Form 1040) line references for 2007 to reflect the changes made to that form. 3) New line 38: Deleted the base amount for 1997 and added the base amount for 2007 (Rev. Proc. 2006-53).
