OMB looks forward to a report from NCES after its field test about further discussions with its expert panel about the need for a science assessment and progress on the asessment development if NCES determines that it would like to proceed. Further, OMB looks forward to a full report about how the vision and hearing screening efforts are progressing, as well as efforts to minimize burden on children during the full scale study.

Abstract:
The ECLS-K 2010-2011 is a longitudinal study that will follow children from kindergarten through fifth grade to measure child development, school readiness and early school experiences. It will include cognitive assessments of children on annual basis, parent interviews, and surveys of teachers, school administrators and the primary care provider.
