Abstract:
The information collection on Serve.gov will allow individuals and organizations to post service projects with the goal of raising the visibility of their projects/organizations in order to recruit more individuals to serve in their projects. The Corporations goal for this tool is to recruit more organizations/individuals to host service projects to engage more individuals/volunteers in service in communities across the country. The tool also proides organizations with a simple and free resource to sign up volunteers for their projects, manage volunteer participation in their projects and report on accomplishments.
Emergency Justfication:
On June 10, 2009, President Obama plans to call on Americans to get involved in their communities this summer through the initiative, United We Serve. Individuals and organizations will be directed to Serve.gov to register projects, learn about opportunities to get involved, and find toolkits that will provide instructions on how to organize your own project. This project registry and management tool will be the intake mechanism for individuals answering President Obamas call to service.

Burden Reduction Due to:
Short Statement:
The burden of this collection will increase because of the increased attention to service and volunteering by the President and First Lady as well as elected and appointed officials across the country, thereby increasing the numbers of individuals and organizations that will be asked to use serve.gov. The burden for organizations increases due to changes in the registration questions and the collection of program accomplishments. We also expect the usage to increase because individuals as well as organizations can now utilize the site for promoting projects and registering as volunteers.
