Short Statement: The decrease in the estimated number of respondents is due to the decrease in the total number of credit unions. The increase in the total number of responses is due to the credit unions' increased awareness of the requirement of when to file a SAR, as well as improved suspicious activity monitoring systems. The total number of SARs filed by credit unions increased dramatically over the past few years, thus the 56,500 estimated responses is based upon an estimated increase over the number of SARs filed by credit unions in 2007.
