Abstract:
The standard requires employers to monitor employee exposure to Chromium (VI), to provide medical surveillance, and to establish and maintain accurate records of employee exposure to Chromium (VI) and employee medical records. These records will be used by employers, employees, physicians and the Government to ensure that employees are not being harmed by exposure to Chromium.

Short Statement:
There is an overall decrease in burden hours of 488,866 hours. The reduction is due to decreasing the total number of plants required to notify laundry personnel of the presence of Cr(VI), reducing the number of employees affected by initial medical examination and additional testing requirements, and reducing the time it takes to establish and prepare initial exposure monitoring and medical surveillance records. An administrative error of +100 hours has been identified which has increased the currently approved burden hours from 1,214,085 to 1,214,185. There was an overall cost decrease of $85,466,794. The decrease is a result of employers no longer being required to perform initial exposure monitoring and no longer needing to make initial purchases of warning labels, bags and containers, and fewer employees require initial comprehensive medical exams because of abnormal medical exam results.
