Abstract:
This standard requires employers to train employees about the hazards of asbestos, to monitor employee exposure, provide medical surveillance, and to maintain accurate records of employee exposure to asbestos. These records will be used by employers, employees, and the Government to ensure that employees are not harmed by exposure to asbestos in the workplace.

Short Statement:
The Agency is requesting an adjustment decrease of 11,916 hours. The decrease is primarily the result of the Agency decreasing the number of affected facilities by one-half. The primary facilities have reduced from 110 facilities to 55 facilities and the secondary facilities have reduced from 132 facilities to 66 facilities. Based on data from U. S. Geological Survey, the Agency assumes that the number of affected facilities has declined by one-half since the 1994 Final regulatory impact and regulatory flexibility analysis.
