Abstract:
The standard requires employers to train workers about the hazards of benzene, to monitor worker exposure, to provide medical surveillance, and maintain accurate records of worker exposure to benzene. These records will be used by employers, workers, physicians and the Government to ensure that workers are not harmed by exposure to benzene in the workplace.

Short Statement:
OSHA removed the requirement that employers transfer employee exposure-monitoring records and medical records to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, specified in paragraph ยง1910.1028(k)(4)(ii), under the Standards Improvement Project-Phase III final rule. As a result of this rulemaking, the Agency requests a program change reduction of one hour and a program cost savings of $12.00.
