Short Statement: This is an extension of a currently approved information collection. There is an adjustment in the number of responses and burden. The number of responses decreased from 300,049 to 230,048 - a difference of 70,001 resposnes. The number of burden hours decreased from 522,765 hours to 408,633 hours - a difference of 114,132 hours. The reduction in burden and responses was achieved not as a result of deliberate Federal government action, but rather due to decreases in the number of eligible migratory children. The increased Federal costs are due to the fact that the Department will hire a contractor to operate Migrant Education Programs in the three Bypass states (CT, RI, and WV).
