Abstract:
The NFIP claims appeals process establishes a formal mechanism to allow policyholders to apepal the decisions of any insurance agent, adjuster, insurance company, or any FEMA employee or contractor, in cases or unsatisfactory decisions on claims, proof of loss, and loss estimates. The respondents are required to submit written appeals in writing stating the basis for their appeal and submit supporting documentation including a copy of the insurer's written denail, in whole or in part, of claims.

This collection has an adjustment increase in burden hours due to the number of estimated appeals that will be received to FEMA for processing. The program office also determine that there will be an annual cost to respondents for mailing appeals (postage) to FEMA for review. Therefore a program cost was estimated for this collection of information.
